Although the film won many artistic accolades, including a special commendation from the Prix Europa Award for a Television Documentary, public screenings were abruptly canceled in both Europe and the United States. Political pressure and the threat of lawsuits from billionaire William Browder ensured the limitation of the film to a single website.
